Junior Program Overview
We have a fun and exciting Junior Program at MCC Lacrosse, for players aged between 8 and 18 years of age, and we are always looking for new players to join our club.
For our younger players, we have our U10 Development Squad, who train once a week at Beaumaris Secondary College (Thursdays 5:30-6:30PM), and learn basic lacrosse skills like catching and throwing the ball.
Next up, we have our U12 teams. Our U12s train once a week at Beaumaris Secondary College and play games against different lacrosse clubs across Melbourne usually on a Saturday morning (Boys and Mixed teams) or a Sunday morning (Girls team). At this age, the game is non-contact and played on half a pitch. Twice a year, the kids get to participate in Lightning Premiership Competitions, which are always a fantastic, fun-filled day. Kids in this age group can play on our Mixed, Boys or Girls teams.
The next age groups are the U14s and U16s. In this age group, kids play on a full pitch. The boys’ game differs from the girls in that the boys now have some contact. We offer both U14 and U16 teams. Training is at Beaumaris twice a week (Mondays and Thursdays) and games are on Saturday mornings (Boys) or Sunday mornings (Girls).

Our U18 group are the transition between our Junior and Senior Programs. Many of our U18 players also play in the Senior competitions. U18s train with the Seniors at the Albert Ground and Beaumaris and several of the U18 players help coach and mentor our younger junior players.
Finally, there is an opportunity for our U15s and U18s to try out and, if successful, represent Victoria in the U15s National Tournament or U18s National Championships hosted by Lacrosse Australia. These championships are held annually across the country. Many of our MCC Lacrosse players have been selected to represent Victoria in recent years.
