Welcome to the 2024 lacrosse season at MCC Lacrosse. We are so excited for the new season to begin and to catch up with our returning players, as well as welcome new players to our club.
It might only be February, and lacrosse season might not have officially started yet, but there are already so many amazing things to report.
First, our Senior Pre-Season Training is already underway for our Senior Men. Last year finished on such a high, especially for our State League Men who made history by reaching the finals in State League for the first time in 15 years. This is something that our Senior Men fully intend to build on, so watch out – it’s going to be an exciting year with lots of fantastic lacrosse!
Our Junior Program is already underway with primary school clinics around Bayside introducing kids to our sport and hopefully picking up some new recruits along the way! Our Junior Pre-season Training for U12s and over will start on February 22nd and will continue every Thursday from 5.30-6.30 at Beaumaris. Our Junior coaches are super approachable and always up for a chat – especially when it comes to lacrosse and growing our sport – so if your child is interested in joining one of our Junior teams, please be sure to seek out Mike, Colby, Adam, Jess, Josh and Simon! They would love to welcome you and your child to our club and sport.
In other exciting news, the 2024 IIJL Commonwealth Cup will take place between 17-20th February at Alan Lewer Box in Altona. This event is a fantastic opportunity for junior Australian players to take on Canada in a box lacrosse tournament. Five MCC players were selected to represent the various Australian teams in this tournament: Jasper Adderley, Jack Cahill, Christian Iuliano, Josh Nicholl and Joe Shobbrook. If you get chance, head down to Altona to cheer on Australia and our MCC lads!
In more box lacrosse news, the 2024 Senior Men's and Women's Box Lacrosse National Championships will take place on 21-25 February at Alan Lewer Box in Altona. Our MCC men, Marty Hyde, Steve Stojkos and Tyler Reynolds, have all been selected to represent Victoria in the championships. Again, if you want to see some excellent lacrosse and support Victoria and our MCC men, head down to Altona!
Finally, if you are eager to sign up for the season – and let’s face it, why wouldn’t you be – just a heads up that 2024 Memberships are now available for payment with early bird pricing currently on offer until 04 April. Check out the Membership Section here.
Let’s get the 2024 season started and make it our best one yet!!!
